As we’re trying to make the Spring Classic a sustainable event, we have sought traders who share these values. This includes working with over 70% of traders who do not serve meat or fish. Whilst vegetarianism does not equate to being sustainable, by reducing the consumption of meat and fish we’re able to reduce CO2 emissions across the event. We will continue to strive to reduce the impacts of the event through carefully selecting traders, improving our supply chains and learning from each other.
The non-plant based traders have been carefully chosen due to their commitments to offering alternatives and ensuring they have good relationships with farms and that the farmers and are with us on our journey.
Our terms of agreement for traders requires that traders do not bring any single use plastic to use on site, as well as waste bonds encouraging them to be very active in handling their waste and reducing their reliance on packaging.
Reusable cutlery and serveware will be used across the festival to eliminate single-use plastic waste. We will also be encouraging festival attendees to bring and use their own cutlery when buying from traders.
